Nose ring infection? What do i do?!?!

Question: Nose ring infection.? What do i do.?!.?
I got my nosed pierced on october 31st this year. I cleaned it with the product they gave me and i've had no problems. I have been cleaning it religiously every morning and night. Last night i slept out and did clean it, i figured i haven't had a problem yet so probably nothing will happen.

WELLLLLLLLLL i was wrong, today i woke up adn found a small pimple looking white head right next to my piercing. Is this an infection.? Its white and puss like but is it an infection with my nose ring or just a gross pimple that decided to appear next tomy piercing.....HELP MEEEEEEE! Anyone have the same issue.?!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
This may depend on what product the piercer gave you. Was it antimicrobial lotion soap.? Or was it the virtually useless "aftercare" liquids some piercers offer.?

"Bumps" on nose and other cartilage piercings are extremely common. I have 3 cartilage piercings but fortunately have never had a bump. Yet.

The white substance in the "pimple" may be pus, which indicates an infection. Or it may simply be dead skin cells. I have 9 piercings and I occasionally get white smelly matter coming from them that is always just dead skin cells. (I know, TMI, but I've had some of these piercings 20+ years so I think I'm a good source.)

Sea-salt soaks are good for most piercing problems. The article below may help:

If you don't have a good antimicrobial lotion soap such as Provon http://www.bodymattersgold.com/acatalog/... you may want to get some from a piercing agency. Antibacterial soaps don't kill all the microbes that may be in your piercing, and they aren't intended for internal use, which is what piercings are.Health Question & Answer
