Could be your sinus contributing - but yes, could be an ear infection. My children were breastfed, so we avoided ear infections pretty much all together. But the one time my daughter had one we used a ear candle from the health food store. Worked magic. Directions are printed on the insert. also, if you have access to a sauna, the moist heat at about 160 - 190 for 15 minutes will open up your sinus and releive pressure also. If this doesnt help, your doctor will prob prescribe Augmentin.
