Can I take Avelox w/ Seroquel? My doctor says I can, but I keep finding info on the internet against it.?!

Question: Can I take Avelox w/ Seroquel.? My doctor says I can, but I keep finding info on the internet against it..?
I was recently prescribed the antibiotic Avelox 400mg for an infection. Avelox 400mg and Seroquel 25mg (the drug I take at night) may interact. This is the issue: in the clincal trials of Seroquel, they tested certain drugs in combination with it ... the conclusion was: drugs that have the potential to cause QT prolongation (but when used properly usually do not) when used with other drugs that have the potential to cause QT prolongation CAN cause QT prolongation and related heart problems. Now, Seroquel and Avelox both have that potential. So, should I take them together.? I rely on Seroquel for sleep ... without it, I'm a wreck and can barely function. And I need Avelox for an infection; if I don't take it, it may get worse. If you search it online, you will see what I'm talking about.Health Question & Answer

Plenty of drugs can interact together, but patients are told to take them anyway. Yes, there's a risk of some heart problems, but your doctor probably thinks that the benefits of you taking the two meds outweighs the risks. If you aren't at any particular risk of heart problems, then there's no need to worry. Take the two drugs as you've been told, but if you experience anything like dizziness, palpitations or fainting, stop the meds, and tell your doctor.Health Question & Answer
