Please answer my question? What would you do if you were in my shoes?!

Question: Please answer my question.? What would you do if you were in my shoes.?
Last year when i was 26 years old i was diagnosed with breast cancer. i am now cancer free. But everyday i am so afraid of a recurrence. i try to block it out of my mind and forget about it, but it is hard for me to do. My life will never be the same again. I will always live in fear because of this.

The scary thing about cancer is that it can return back even after many years. My doctor has already informed me that if it returns again that it will be uncurable which i am so terrified about. I am so young. I am scared to death. I don't know what to do.

I don't really know how she can say that it will be uncurable when lots of people get cancer more than once and the still survive it. Something just tells me that i should just prepare myself for a recurrence. That way if it does happen again, maybe i'll be able to deal with it more better and it won't be so devasted when it returns because i've already expected for it to come back anyways. And expecting for it to return will help me deal with the situation more better.

Its hard for me to be positive in this situation when 90% of people have recurrences. If you were me would you feel the same way as i do.? What would you do if you were in my shoes.? how would you feel.?Health Question & Answer

I have dealt with cancer, and the one I had I was told I would not survive. I should have died two years ago. My thinking on this is pretty simple. We ALL have the same life span, because we all live right NOW.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed to ANYONE. You could be hit by a truck tomorrow and die, an asteroid could hit the earth and we all cease to exist, there are millions of things that can occur between NOW and the next hour that could be the end for all of us. The point I am making here is that NOW is all any of us really has. What you have to decide is whether it is worth it to you to destroy the possible joy you can experience in the NOW by worrying about something that may never happen. You cannot know the future, none of us can, and by fearing what may happen, you lose what is happening now, you lose the joy, you lose any benefit from your life right now.
A great teacher once said "As we intend, so do we create." I took that to heart, I "intend" to live fully every day of my life, and therefore, I live fully and without fear of tomorrow, something that doesn't exist and may never come into existence. Think about it hon, let go of your fear and live NOW, it's all any of us has for sure.Health Question & Answer

Well first of all, I agree 100% with LindsayL's answer. But my advice would just be to follow that James Dean quote: "Dream as if you will live forever, live as if you will die today". (Or something to that extent).Health Question & Answer

The first thing you need to do is get a second opinion. I have NEVER heard of a second recurrence of breast cancer (or any cancer for that matter) being incurable. You are young so you can handle any chemo, etc. that they may need to use. So the treatment wouldn't kill you therefore I have no idea what the doctor was talking about.

The second think you need to do is turn your attitude around. You have had your mortality wake up call. We all get those. I was 20 and my best friends died in a car accident and I survived. That was my big dose of reality. I was horrified to get into a car for six months, but regardless, I got over is and try to live each day to it's fullest. We all have to die sometime, so do you want to waste your days worried about it, or get as much out of life as you can before your time is up.?

It's all about perception.Health Question & Answer

Are you in the U.k. there should be specialist nurses that can help you work through these feelings, Easy for me to say but try not to dwell on what may or may not happen and think of your experience as a second chance and make a list of things you have always wanted to do and try and do the things on you list, You could also look into charitable breast cancer trusts and help young women going through what you have been through,Visit your family doctor it maybe that your are unable to be positive because you may be suffering from clinical depression,I wish you all the best and would really like to know how you get on!Health Question & Answer

Do not hold your Love back to those you care about. Live in the moment and smile at a beautiful day. There are 3 year old's that have not been afforded the existence you have. The amount of time and the blessings of your country. Our time on here is always ending but not many have a watch to death that gives us that time. If you believe you are attractive have sexy photos taken of you and realize we all have only now. One person can get hit by a car tommorrow. Should he be afraid of that car his entire life.?Health Question & Answer

It is hard not to worry, but you need to change your thinking. Try to think positive. When you are having negative thoughts about it, stop yourself. Negative thinking can bring on illnesses. So if you continue to think positively, then you are making yourself healthy. A lot of people believe that emotions play a key factor in illnesses. I read a book about patients with cancer. The ones who were happy every day got rid of the cancer. The ones that were negative didn't get rid of it. It may seem too simple, but there are a lot of books out there about this. Try reading a book by Wayne Dyer or Louise Hay. I am glad you are better now! Take care.Health Question & Answer

Understandable how you feel. Unforgivable what your doctor said. Unless your doctor happens to also be psychic.? Get a new doctor.

That being said, you're cancer free and unable to enjoy that. There are ALLLL kinds of groups for you, and you need one. This is exactly why they're there. They'll be in your phone book under breast cancer or cancer treatment centres.

Congrats, physically you're healed, time to work on the scarring left behind.Health Question & Answer
