Cause & treatment of painful underarm lumps?!

Question: Cause & treatment of painful underarm lumps.?
hello,

if there is a nurse or med. professional: i been using secret deodorant and tide detergent without any issues. i have painful lumps (3) under my left underarm only. they are firm and feel as if they are attached to the skin inside, can't be moved around. it is painful for me to even lift up my arm. of course i don't have health insurance, lol. what do you think this is.? how can I treat it.? if you name some products, please ones I can order from walgreens or rite aid. I have stopped using Secret deodorant, until I find something that's all natural, I ordered yesterday...this maybe unrelated but every year i get swollen glands, no sore throat, just the glands or lymph nodes in my neck. usually it goes away after several days. Thank you.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
sounds like you have swollen lymph nodes in your armpit area. there are lymph nodes here as well as in the throat area.

lymph nodes swell when you have an infection and sometimes the nodes enlarge and form a boil. the way to treat this is to treat the underlying infection and sometimes the node actually has to be drained at the doctors office.

there isnt a drugstore cure for this if it is indeed what you are experiencing. it may go away on its own, but i would suggest seeing a doctor because these nodes are near the breast tissue and you dont want to leave a breast problem untreated. since you dont have insurance, maybe you could go to a planned parenthood--they will see you for this even though it is not a sex issue.Health Question & Answer

Do not squeeze them, they can get infected. I know I use to do that. I use to get them when I was young around the time of my period. My sister had to have an operation where the Doctor had to cut her underarm open while she was awake and then cut every little sack of pus open and ht ere were a lot of them It was really gross, even the doctor was grossed out!Health Question & Answer
