Is mouthwash ok for 2yr old?!

Question: Is mouthwash ok for 2yr old.?
My daughter has bad teeth issues due to low enamel from being premature but she is smart and clever and I taught her to rinse and spit with water ages ago.. Recently she wanted my mouthwash too so I diluted it with water and let her use some.. I reckon it helps her teeth......I even got a comment from a lady she knows that they are looking better........so I have brought her a kids mouthwash but it does say on it 'not for under 6'.. Is this just because of swallowing risks.? I still dilute it with water too..

(she has two cavities and rotten front teeth which is why I want to do the best I can for them!)Health Question & Answer

If you dilute the rinse you are taking it has little to no effect.. The reason they say not 6 and under is the whole swallowing issue.. If she rinses and spits under your suppervision that fine, but don't dilute it or you might as well just use water it will have the same effect..Health Question & Answer

yes it probably is to do with swallowing, a mouth is a mouth..

its like on lots of things it says 'keep out of reach of children'' its because they might find mummys pills, try some, think ''thats yummy!'' and take a fatal overdose and you wouldnt want that

but be sure to watch her, as she is a two year oldHealth Question & Answer

I would be careful with it.. Make sure you dilute it.. There are some mouth washes out there like ACT rise that help with decay..Health Question & Answer

NO, TOO HARSH!
THERE IS ALCOHOL IN MOUTHWASH..Health Question & Answer

no i dont think your daughter should have mouth wash, when taking the risk.. she is only 2 year old i think you should wait until 5 years old.. or you should get one of those kids mouth wash.. they have it i dont have the name in mind right now but if you look in your local supermarcket like walgreens, shoprite or king kullen which is also called walbaums they will have kids mouthwash.. she is only 2 so if she swallows a little bit not eve a little like a little drop it will hold risks.. she is really young.. if you have a doubt i think you should ask a pediatrician.. Hope i helpedd!Health Question & Answer

Mouthwashes contain alcohol and other chemicals that could be harmful to your child; besides mouthwashes do not prevent cavities.. you should be taking your 2 year old to the Dentist regularly.. It is good that you brush the child's teeth and let the child brush also.. She should be off of all bottles, if not bottle broken do not let her go to bed with anything but clear water.. Nothing sweet, no milk at bed time.. Limit sodas and gums, best not at all.. Those rotten front teeth did not come from a premature birth; they came from going to sleep with a bottle in her mouth after 1 year old.. Some children and adults are more prone to cavities than others.. This is mostly an inherited characteristic and having a source of fluoride in your water or applied by a Dentist.. Those of us that are susceptible to cavities, must watch what we put in our mouths and practice good oral hygiene.. As far as preventing cavities, plain water rinse after eating if brushing is not available, will do just as good as an expensive mouthwash..Health Question & Answer
