His mouth hurts, but it's not his teeth.?!
Question: His mouth hurts, but it's not his teeth..?
My uncle has been having a terrible pain on the right side of his mouth, and it even hurts when he touches it. He can open his mouth, but it is also painful. He does not eat because it hurts so bad. He does not have headaches or anything else. It is just his mouth. He went to the dentist and had several teeth pulled, but the pain persists. He also had an MRI done, and it came up negative. What could it be.?Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Maybe it's trigeminal neuralgia. I learned about this in dental school, but never came across a case. There have been reports of misdiagnosis resulting in extractions of healthy teeth. After these extractions, the pain still persists. You can read about it on wikepidia

it may be a strained muscle in his mouth. im not sure who to go to in that case though. but it is more than likely a muscle in his jaw or mouth area. he could try to massage the part that hurts and see if it gets better or worsensHealth Question & Answer
