Question: Hi guys, I got 8 spacers thursday and my braces October 9, will braces hurt more than spacers.? What can I eat.?
Can you explain all I'll need to know about my braces.? Will it hurt more to eat than it does now with my spacers in.? Thanks.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
No, spacers are the worst part in my opinion (that is until you get to "train track" bands on your braces). Getting your braces on will be much less painful than spacers. As for what you can eat, do what your orthodontist says. (I eat anything, but it takes time getting used to.)Health Question & Answer

For some reason, the spacers didn't hurt at all for me.

The braces, however, will hurt much more than the spacers. When you first get them on, you'll most likely just feel funny. The next day, is when the pain comes, so make sure you take a couple tylenol or motrin the night before.

When your teeth hurt, eat soft foods. Ice cream, yogurt, bread, soft donuts, cereal, pancakes, soup, mashed potatoes, that kind of thing. Just wait a few days, and you should be able to eat solid foods. You might have to go slower, you are going to have to get used to eating with braces on, but don't worry, it'll come fast.

And always remember, even though braces kill and you will get sick of them, it's all worth it in the end.Health Question & Answer

Sorry but yes braces will hurt more than spacers. Get some advil, you'll have a headache, and some braces wax, it will cut your tongue and lips the first few weeks. When I first got braces I had to eat soup and apple sauce for the first few days, then it got better. Depends on how messed up your teeth are too, the more they need moved the more its going to hurt. But a few years after you get them off you hardly remember having them, so at least you have that to look forward to.

Edit: if your dentist tells you not to eat something, dont. I cost my poor parents a fortune by popping brackets off eating sticky and hard crap. That doesnt get fixed for free and youre lucky you can afford to get your teeth fixed.Health Question & Answer

i have braces and i has spacers-it kind of depends-for me, braces hurt very terribly and hurt more.braces after a week or so will kick in and hurt. thy make your lips feel puffy at first and grab cheeks too. you could start bleeding. but spacers can hurt your tounge and make you talk funny. t depends really of how you think of it. your dentist should tell you or give you a list of what you cant eat. if you do chew gum(like me still)dont press the gum against your teeth or stick it on them. also with carmel-i suggest dont eat it often if you have to still eat it. it easily gets stuck in your teeth. but with spacers-stick to what the dentist tells you. try to not eat or chew what your not suppsed to.Health Question & Answer

spacers don't hurt at all when they put them in. when you get braces you will not be able to eat anything for about a week or two. when you first get them all you can is soft foods. but after you get use to them you can eat just about anything. they tell you not to eat hard candy, sticky candy, or chew gum, but i did it anyway. when you get your braces they will give a list of what you can and cannot eat.Health Question & Answer

Getting your braces on will hurt more than spacers for about a week. When i got mine on I could barely eat anything, and brushing my teeth or accidentally touching them was really painful.Health Question & Answer

Braces will not hurt more than spacers, and it will be easier to eat.
In spite of what your dentist may say...you can eat anything.Health Question & Answer
