If someone is applying to dental school, is it ok if they don't have all of their prerequisites completed?!
Question: If someone is applying to dental school, is it ok if they don't have all of their prerequisites completed.?
If an applicant has another semester/year before dental school starts, I would think that many applicants would be finishing up their bachelors degree or basic required classes. What if they aren't planning on getting their bachelors degree, and they haven't quite finished all of the required classes or upper science classes that some dental schools strongly encourage.?
What if the applicant is still finishing the requirements, like these:
Academic requirements:
2 semesters (8 credits) Biology
2 semesters (8 credits) Inorganic Chemistry
2 semesters (8 credits) Physics
1 semester (4 credits) Organic Chemistry
1 term (3 credits) Biochemistry
1 semester writing-intensive Humanities or Social Science course (may include History, English, Comparative Literature, Philosophy, Government or Women's Studies)

I just graduated from Dental school this past May and I did not finish my bachelors degree before I started dental school. You could start to apply now without all the required classes, but you will have to have the classes completed them prior to entering the 1st semester.
I would recommend going to the American Dental Association website. Your can purchase a book that has information on all the Dental schools in the United Stated. It will tell you what prerequisites each school requires, because they are all different. I would also reccomend contacting all of the schools that you are interested in applying to so that you can make sure that it is okay you don't have your prerequistes completed. I hope this helps. :) Health Question & Answer
