The pain may still be present but it should be decreasing... just like a bruise going away over time. If the pain is worse than the day after the surgery, you may have dry socket. This is when the blood clot is removed from the extraction site and the bone is exposed. Common causes of dry socket are sucking on straws, smoking, and swishing vigorously with mouthwash or spitting with force. If the pain is worse now, you should call the office and return. There is a substance they can pack in over the bone to help. Hope you feel better soon.Health Question & Answer

O yes. You can have those affects for awhile. Make sure you watch what you eat. No acidic stuff for awhile and make sure you rinse your mouth out after you eat and before bed. It will take awhile but just make sure you keep your mouth clean and watch what you eat.Health Question & Answer
