Bleeding gums...please help me?!

Question: Bleeding gums...please help me.?
I've been having a problem lately with my gums. Well, it's not my gum exactly...you know where the inside of your cheek connects to your gum (on the top).? That's where the problem is - it's not my gums, really. It bleeds when I brush my teeth - that's been going on for two days now. And it's very painful after I brush my teeth, and then it's still painful after that. But there appears to be no open sore or even anything that would indicate it would be painful.

Other information on it: It's only on the right side of my mouth. And right where it is, I've had two surgeries. The surgeries were for 1) taking out an impacted baby tooth and putting a chain on the one behind it, and then after 6 months of having that tooth pulled down I went for 2) to expose the tooth (open up my gum and sew gauze in to keep the space open where the tooth was). This was in May, and I've had nothing major done there since then.

I do wear braces, I'm a few months away from the end of my treatment. The formerly impacted tooth has a bracket on it which is digging into my gum, but it's not bleeding or painful there. It doesn't appear that my braces really touch the place where it hurts, but they probably do a little bit. I'm wearing rubber bands on my teeth to help pull them into position, and it hurts less when I have them in.

I'm a little worried, but I have a periodontist (gum specialist) cleaning appointment in 1 or 2 weeks, and I'm planning on asking them then. However, I'm still scared. What could this possibly be.? Has anyone ever had this happen.? What do I do about it.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
the reason you are bleeding so much is either from the surgery, or because you have sensitive gums. I have a very sensitive mouth, it hurts for me to get xrays, floss, brush my teeth, etc. i would try to switch to a sensitive toothpase such a sensodine and try that for about 2 weeks. if you dont see any results go to your dentist. you dont need to go to a gum specialist because you said it isnt exactly your gums. so go to your dentist and if you need to go to a different doctor they can refer you. also try and by a soft tooth brush. most people use medium because they think it cleans better but it just irritates your gums so buy a small soft brush.Health Question & Answer
