Cankers sores are a tricky thing. That is there is no known defininative cause for them. Sometimes they are due to stress other times they can occur from an high acidic diet like drinking a ton of soda etc. For the most part the sores are self limiting, that is they go away on their own and the best reatment is to look at your self and see if anything yor doing in your life may be causing it, like drinking too much soda or being in a stressful environment like at work. Control the cause and you will stop the sores. You may also want to have a dentist look at it so they can prescribe a rinse that will help control the pain and speed up the healing process. As for over the counter remedies, I you hould be able to by oraljel for cancker sores. Its also a good idea to have the sore spots looked at to make sure they are just that sore spots and not something more urgent.Health Question & Answer
Mary's Magic Potion...(you need a script for it though)...especially if you have several ulcers. It is an elixer made up of different otc and sometimes perscription meds. Most pharmacists know how to make it and usually it works well. Kenelog in orabase is another script that tends to work...as for Over the counter....keep it clean, use topical anesthetics and avoid foods linked to these (ie peanuts/cinnamon)Health Question & Answer
