To answer the questions you asked me in response to your other question.
Yes you should be able to eat almost anything, jut don't try biting into anything right now. Like my example of chicken pot pie, I cooked the chicken and finely shredded it before mixing it with the other ingredients. I was able to eat a good hearty meal and it didn't require a lot of chewing and NO biting. That is probably why no pizza. I can have pizza, he just said no eating the hard crust on the end, which isn't a problem for me as I don't like thin crust pizza anyways. The only foods strictly off limits are anything really hard that require a lot of exertion when chewing, such as chewing on ice, nuts, etc. And anything really sticky that could get stuck in your braces, such as taffy, caramel or bubble gum. Oh, and my orthodontist told me not to eat anything highly acidic, especially not to suck on lemons as the acidity wears down the enamel on your teeth and can also cause the bonding agent to break down and your brackets to fall off. Most of what you can't eat is strictly because it can damage the braces. You bite into or chew anything hard, you could pop a bracket off or bend or break the arch wire. Something sticky can pull off a bracket or get stuck in the braces, being very hard to get out. If you damage your braces it means another trip to the orthodontist to fix them, prolonging your treatment and costing more money.
As far as toothbrush, you can use a regular manual toothbrush combined with an electric toothbrush. The best electric brush is the sonic care but it is kind of expensive. Right now I'm just using a manual toothbrush (broke after paying for my braces! LOL), the key is to take your time. It takes twice as long to brush your teeth thoroughly with braces than it does without. Make sure you angle the brush to get the entire tooth, above the bracket and below. Did they give you an interdental toothbrush, or pic.? This is the best thing!
First thing I do after eating is swish warm water in my mouth to get all the large food particles out. Then I use an interdental pic (kind of like a pipe cleaner) to brush under the arch wire and the tops and bottoms of the brackets. Then I use my regular toothbrush, making sure to brush every side and angle. Then I floss, rinse, use ACT mouth wash, then I usually go over my teeth one more time with my regular toothbrush to make sure I got everything.
I included a great website below that has had a lot of tips for me, the particular link I gave goes straight to their soft food suggestions page.
Good luck, I promise it really does get better, for me the braces are starting to feel less foreign in my mouth, so I'm adjusting okay after a week, just give it a few more days and you'll be fine!Health Question & Answer

It's ok. Any ortho brush is good to use, because of the way it is shaped to work around the brackets.

However, the BEST thing to use is a professional Electric Toothbrush such as an Oral -B or Sonicare. Not the cheap ones like Crest SpinBrush. It is a good investment, and helps to keep your teeth beautiful. If you don't brush well during treatment, you will end up with white squares on the teeth that are permanent.
