I have to wait 2 weeks for my retainer?!

Question: I have to wait 2 weeks for my retainer.?
I just got my braces off about 7 hours ago after having them on for exactly a year. Yay freedom. My teeth moved quickly which is why i only had to have them for a year. I'm afraid my teeth will move out of place again within that time period. What do you think.? Will my retainer move my teeth back into the same place.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Once your retainer comes, you'll be okay.
Until then, try not to grind your teeth or knock them too hard. This may cause them to begin moving back again.

You'll have to wear your retainer for at least a year. I got my braces off two years ago and I still wear a retainer. When you first get your retainer, and you pop it in, it WILL hurt. This is pretty much normal. Waiting two weeks gives your teeth a chance to try to get back to the way they were.

After you pop your retainer in, when the pain comes (it's just like getting your wires tightened), it will gradually dull. Nothing to worry about. But you musn't freak out--it's just your retainer restraining your teeth a bit more.

Congrats on the freedom of your teeth!!
I remember when I got my braces off.
It felt soo good!Health Question & Answer

Your teeth will be fine. Your orthodontist would not make you wait, if they thought it would be a problem.Health Question & Answer
