How long does tooth eruption take?!
Question: How long does tooth eruption take.?
I'm in the alleged final stage of my braces. My dentist suggested that my lower eyeteeth - or canines - be "raised" up a bit since they've gotten worn down (because I'm old). He said that it wouldn't take long, perhaps a week or so.
It's been a week since the adjustment was made. I guess it was done by adjusting the wire. But I don't see any difference and I can't feel anything. I would have expected them to hurt.
Shouldn't I be seeing some change by now.? Or feeling something.?Health Question & Answer

Hi there,
From what I remember from the time I assisted my dad, ( unofficially- I was not a licensed D.A.), who was a dentist, these "eruptions" are very sublte and perhaps they need to be measured by a very sensitive instrument which your dentist should have.
I wouldn't expect that the teeth would make a dramatic change, but would be very small, therefore not like cutting new teeth, which you experienced when you were younger, or when your wisdom teeth erupted.
I did find some information about tooth eruption from the ADA, which may shed some light on your question. But if it were me, I would definitely ask your dentist to make the right measurements to assure that the procedure is successful.

Hope this helps, and good luck on getting those teeth to grow the way the dentist envisioned.

I would ask the dentist who is treating you. You don't need to go in, just call. A tooth erupts when it's ready. Some overnight. Some take a month.Health Question & Answer
