Is this a healthy weight? 13 years old, 90 pounds, 5'5?!

Question: Is this a healthy weight.? 13 years old, 90 pounds, 5'5.?
Well, I'm thirteen years old, 5'5, and 90 pounds.
Is this a healthy weight, because people keep telling me different things. Some people call me fat (most likely joking, though, some people say I'm average, and some people say I'm underweight.

What do you think.? :/Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You are average to underweight. It is really hard to be particular about anyone's height/weight at your age because so much can change so rapidly. You may or may not grow more (but probably will) and the body really does 'thicken' as you grow older, but you are pretty far off from the time when that usually starts.

But I would have to say you are closer to average than underweight. You might just be a 'skinny kid,' or you might be on the verge of a major age-based weight change. What you do now will have much to do with that. Now is the time to start looking at a healthy diet and activity schedule. And when I say, 'healthy diet,' I'm not talking about those people who say you should 'eat more' because you are 'too skinny.' Have you been to a doctor recently.? I'm sure that if your weight was in any way legitimately unhealthy, especially at your age, the big talk about eating disorders would have popped up. I'm not sure why everyone wants young people to eat more and hasten their age-based thickening... it isn't like most of us ever have a problem in that regard. Besides, if you stay on the thinner side of healthy most of your life, that is far better, easier, and more maintainable than hovering around heavy... that's a tough one to carry your whole life, absolutely no pun intended.

Armchair opinion.? You're a 5-5, 90 pound, 13 year old. Boy or girl, that isn't sickly or anything. Just a skinny kid.

EDIT: BMIs and most similar indexes are horribly inaccurate for minors, especially those that are in the beginnings of puberty.Health Question & Answer

I doubt anyone is calling you fat with any sincerity.

If you don't try to be that weight, and you just naturally are 90 pounds. Don't worry about it. That's just you.

But technically, you are underweight for your height.

My best friend is 5'4 and she's 92 pounds. She has never been able to break 100. even though she's the most unhealthy eater I know.Health Question & Answer

I had the same problem, I was 14 and was 5 foot 3 inches and only about 105 pounds. People actually made fun of me because I was underweight. Drinking protein shakes or protein bars works...they are really gross but you gain weight pretty dang fast.Health Question & Answer

Well, being 5'5 i would say you are underweight..
Do you do gymnastics or ballet.? If so, thats fine then.
Maybe start eating a bit more, and working out. This will make you a bit bigger, but muscle wise.. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

I think you are a little underweight, but that is very normal considering your age. You'll pack on pounds soon enough, don't worry.Health Question & Answer
