1 Calorie = 1kcal= 1000 calories. The k on kcal is just the abbreviation for the metric kilo- (kilometre, kilogram, etc). It's really silly. Most food packaging uses Calories with the capital C. also, most sources that say 'calories' in relation to food are actually referring to Calories (or kcal if you prefer).
