Question: I don't get it! I'm not out of shape so why do I breathe so heavily after I run.?
I run 1 mile every day since Sunday.
After I'm done, I'm so out of breath! I've played 4 sports my whole entire life and have always been fit.
How can I stop breathing so heavily.?
And getting light headed.? That's another thing..I feel like I have pressure going to my head.
thanks!Health Question & Answer

Alot of people who run don't realize it but they kind of quit breathing while running. You should try to focus on your breathing while running and be sure to breath out your mouth and in your nose. The headache/lightheaded feeling is from lack of Oxygen to the brain, form improper breathing. Hope this helps, my boxing trainer taught me this one. Health Question & Answer
I have the same problem. I run a mile 3 times a week and after I just need a breath. It's usually normal but it could be asthma. Plus there is a saying it takes 7 chances to make good on 3. Think of chances as days. Don't push yourself too much.Health Question & Answer
could be a variety of things.
asthma
someone in your household smokes
bronchitis
high resting heart rate
1 mile is really not that much though. And maybe you dont get your rate high enough when running. Try pushing yourself a little harder each time to lower your resting heart rate.Health Question & Answer
