Losing weight and gaining muscle are almost contradicting. I think what you mean is lose fat and gain muscle. That's VERY possible. Best way to do it is to set up a training program for yourself. Different reps. on different days of different exercises (alternate days, MWF and T,TH), increasing the weights as you become able to do the reps. easier. Having the correct diet with this will also help. It's important to eat something directly after lifting, but not a meal. I would say a protein shake/ bar and a piece of fruit is perfect. Cut out junk food for your normal every day diet and always make sure to eat breakfast, and for that matter, about 2-3 hours before a practice, eat a balanced meal. HYDRATE! and to lose weight (and gain endurance) LOTS of cardio. Running, doing sprints, biking, mix it up to keep it interesting. FInd your target heart rate, and keep it there for 25-30 minutes.
