I need to take in more calories?!

Question: I need to take in more calories.?
I have always been into weight training, not so much for extreme gains, but rather to feel good while seeing moderate results. Long story short, I recently moved in with my girlfriend and money is a little tight to be spending on a lot of food. So my question is, are there any decent supplements or nutritional bars that I can eat to put on lean muscle, rather than fat.?

I usually eat somewhere between 1,000 - 2,000 calories a day, depending on what we eat for dinner. Breakfast is a couple eggs or a bowl of puffed rice.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
If you've looked at the price of nutrition shakes and bars, they're not exactly affordable! You may not need to resort to them; bodybuilding.about.com has an excellent article on the proper nutrition for building lean muscle mass.

The key points:

Several smaller meals instead of two or three huge meals, to keep your metabolic rate up

40% Carbohydrates, 40% Protein, 20% Fats for every meal

Use caloric cycling (meaning you alternate high calorie days with a couple of lower calorie days)

Drink lots of water

I would recommend reading their article; it would probably be of great help to a guy trying to build muscle mass on a budget!

Oh, and eat a better breakfast! Like, the eggs AND the cereal, not one or the other!Health Question & Answer
