my first step was to draw a picture of what i wanted to look like and stick in a really visible place. not just my 'new figure' but also what i wanted to change. new haircut, learn to swim, read more etc so that the change was not just about getting skinny, but being a better me.

It was then easier to change my eating habits. the things i found i could easily change was
replacing soft drink with water
smaller desert portions
and cutting out bread/pastor/pastries when possible

its important to find health eating habits that suit you, otherwise they wont last. and soon you will have the energy and drive to get active.

I bought a large adult dog from an animal shelter and bought a pedometer. My new dog HAS to be walked twice a day. So I get up early (something I'm not used to) and walk him for an hour in the morning. Then in the afternoon I walk him for another hour. Wearing the pedometer all day give me added motivation. Try to aim for 12000 steps a day if you are trying to lose weight. I find also that when I am walking I am less likely to want to eat junk food because all of my hard work walking (well its actually quite fun) would be a waste. also drink more water if you don't already. Sometimes you can feel hungry but you are simply dehydrated.Health Question & Answer

The first thing I did was write down what I ate for about 5 days without worrying if the food was fattening or "bad." Then I chose one item that was high in fat/calories and chose to stop eating it (fries) and replaced it with veggies or salad w/ oil and vinegar.

P.S. I recommend reading Body for Life to get an idea about cleaning up your diet and starting an exercise routine.Health Question & Answer

i basically started going to curves... and started to be on a diet (keep in mind its not the srtictest diet out there) to date ive lost over 15 pounds/inches in 2 month period.if you went on a stricter diet you would loose a lot more.
basically just try eating less, and more often with lower calorie intake.
go for walks, jogs, or yoga.
if you're ready join a gym.. if you're a woman i suggest curves.. the trainers dont push you to go faster/harder.. you work at your own pace to reach your goal. Health Question & Answer
