I've just eaten an insane amount of sugary junk. Will I put on a pound?!


Question: I've just eaten an insane amount of sugary junk. Will I put on a pound.?
I don't know what on earth possessed me. I've just eaten 2 flapjacks, 2 chocolate ice creams, 1 pot of mango sorbet, a pack of butterscotch whip, 1 cinnamon & raisin bagel, 2 chocolate bars and 2 meringue nests on top of what I've already eaten today (sweet potato & veg, muesli and salad). I estimate I must've consumed around 3500 calories today. Will that cause me to gain a pound in weight.?

I really don't know why I did this and I feel sick. I usually eat really healthily and obsessively calorie count. It's like this evening I just snapped.Health Question & Answer

What happened to you is called a 'binge'--it's when you've deprived yourself for something for so long that you pretty much just mentally snap and you find yourself devouring a whole ton of junk. I'm the same way.
Anyways, if you don't eat like this everyday, chances are you won't gain anything. If you do, it'll just be food weight and it'll go away in a couple of days.Health Question & Answer

A pound of fat is 3500 calories.. so considering that's the amount you ate today.. I would say it's probable you could put on a pound, but I wouldn't count on it... your body uses up calories to digest food.. you burn calories by just walking around your house or whatever... so you'll be burning the calories from the food you ate, so it would prolly be lower than 3500.

omg i know exactly what you mean. but its ok i know what youre going through. i dont think youll gain a pound, but a good idea is to drink several glasses of water throughout whats left of today. itll speed up your metabolism and stuff. Just remember its not the end of the world, and dont beat up yourself over it, its ok. Ive been through this so many times lol but yeah theres always tomorow to eat healthy again lol. right now just relax and rememer how good every bit of it tasted :)

If you don't do this everyday, then you most likely won't gain weight. Otherwise, definitely, you will gain 1 lbs already.
