The first answerer's response was pretty good, except for one thing. DO NOT RUN. Don't run, don't jog, don't jump rope. At your weight, you could really do some irreparable damage to your body, especially your joints.

The LAST thing you want to do right now is hurt yourself and end up unable to exercise for another month. At 240, walking would be wonderful. Work yourself up to walking for an hour a day. Another GREAT thing for big women like you and me are elliptical machines.

If you can't commit, then I would really advise you to join a group like weight watchers or something similar. It really helps if you can talk once a week to fellow dieters and you get a lot of good recipes. Don't hurry though by losing weight too fast. It's much more important to loose weight permanently, and this will only happen if you really commit that you want to become an elegant & slim person. it will be a lot easier if you take all the help that you can get.

dieting and exercise is definitely the way to go, and it may take a while. however, i think tackling the main issue of the weight problem will benefit you heaps. as people, we can eat when we are bored, depressed, a change in lifestyle (constantly busy = fast food). if you are able to figure this out, youll be able to find a good solution, where with diet and exercise, you can keep the weight off for good as well.

Well...It's going to take longer than a couple of months first off, because you have alot to lose. ok... eat very slow .... so that you will feel full... and chew it very slow...eat vegetables and fruits ...or better yet eat plenty food as much as you can,, and wait for it to melt.. then exercise to burn fat..
