How do I know if I have anorexia?!

Question: How do I know if I have anorexia.?
I am a 29 yr old female who is feeling very confused. At the beginning of August I went to a dr.'s appt and when I stepped on the scale and saw 285 pounds I felt sick to my stomach. All I could think was how did I let myself get this big. For the next 2 days I was so depressed. I decided to diet--no ifs ands or buts. I started by restricting my calories to 1000/day with an hour of exercise. The weight started to come off and in about 2 weeks people had started to compliment me. For me though, the weight didn't seem to be coming off fast enough so I started counting every calorie and most days my caloric intake was around 100-200. In one week I lost 15 lbs. The next week I lost 13. In the last 10 weeks I have lost 85 lbs. When I first started, as I mentioned earlier, I was getting compliments--now though my friends have come up to me and are concerned I've turned anorexic. I don't think I'm anorexic though because I weigh 200 lbs at 5'5" so my BMI is still considered obese plus everything I've read online about anorexia has a criteria of a very low BMI. I'm right, right.?

Being anorexic is more than just not eating, it's a mental disorder too. But, on the other hand, I am a little concerned with your 100-200 cal/day. A human can't function with that minute amount of calories. Calories are how your body gets it's energy, and by taking in 1/10 of what you should be, really puts your body at risk. I totally understand your need to shed the pounds quickly, but you have to remember that staying healthy is far more important. also, food (no pun intended) for thought, when you eat like you are, it actually hinders your metabolism. So, for now, the lbs. are peeling off, but it will not remain that way. Soon, it will slow to a crawl, and anything you eat will take far longer to burn off.Health Question & Answer
