Its not your body, its your conscious telling you to eat. Maybe since you feel "empty" all the time, you could try filling yourself up with other healthy things such as fruits/vegetables. Or when you feel like you're in DESPERATE need of eating any of the junkies fill yourself up with water. [It really does help]. However don't drink a lot of water at once during a short space of time because it can leave long-term effects such as liver/kidney damage.

This problem has also probably occured to you because of boredom. It might sound ironic, but the more bored you are, the more you feel obliged to 'pig out', with whatever's put before you. Maybe you should do something more active or spend your time more wisely- reading, cleaning, etc; instead of sitting "at a desk all day gaining weight". Just take a walk round the neighborhood if you've seriously got nothing left to do.

You know, when I have homework or am doing something more productive with my time, I sometimes even forget about food altogether =]

But you get my point. There's a whole world out there! Do more than sitting at your desk...

Well your appetite increases with the amount of food you eat. If you over eat for sometime, your appetite will automatically adjust to the new eating behavior. After sometime you'll need more food to satisfy you. this is how you start gaining weight. I find that using herbal supplements or teas with appetite suppressant benefits is a big help. The ones in the health food store are all natural and often have many other health benefits too. Look for things containing fennel. Drink hot water with lemon, and take vitamins.
When I don`t take my vitamins I feel hungry a lot.
That is helping me not to eat when I wanted to put something in my mouth.
Sometimes stress does that, makes you want to eat.
It is good idea to do something else when you are thinking about food.
