Sit ups dont burn off fat. So if you eat a chocolate and do 25 situps, its not going to burn it off. Only cardio exercise helps you lose weight. Situps are meant to tone your stomach, though they dont do a very good job of it. Crunches are better and more effective except these exercises tone your abdominal muscles which is under your fat. So if you have fat over your stomach muscles - obviously, these exercises are a waste of time.

The only way to lose weight is to eat a balanced diet, while exercising cardio & aerobic. So anything that keeps the heartbeat up - running, jogging, tae bo, aerobics classes, sport, jumping, etc.

Some people even say if your doing situps/crunches and your have stomach fat, it can make you look bigger because its toning up the muscles under your fat. If you do 50 sit ups a day for a month, i doubt you will see a difference. Especially if your not combining it with a healthy diet (no junk food and sweets)

BUT if your wanting to tone, I suggest doing pilates classes, squats, yoga, crunches, etc..

And to burn off a fun-size chocolate bar, depending on what one it is usually is around 30-minutes of walking (approx)Health Question & Answer

The one difference I can assure you that you will see is how easy it becomes to do the sit ups. Over time, if you keep doing 50 a day, it will become easier. Your body will adapt to this routine and will not make any progress if you continue it for too long. What you want to do is spice it up, find other, more challenging ab exercises that will keep your muscles guessing.

You need a proper weight gaining diet to actually make your abs grow.
You need a proper fat loss diet to make your abs stand out, the shredded six pack look.

Well...your body gets used to exercise. So maybe if you start with that, and then go up and build up from there, you would. The extra 25 sit ups will not burn off the chocolate though. Health Question & Answer
