It depends on what your looking for. If you want to lose weight quick, they will work. But once you stop taking them you will put all the weight back on. Unless you take them for the rest of your life, you will gain it back--and the problem with being on them for an extended period of time is that they WILL mess with your metabolism (just had a friend who had to get surgery because she took stackers for like 5years and messed up her metabolism) and in which case will only cause you further health/weight loss problems in the future.
So overall rating--bad.Health Question & Answer

Any quick fix solution is going to be just that... ...a quick fix. I don't have any personal experience with the pills but most quick fix diet solutions tend to be some form of a dieretic which makes your body think it's not hungry. The negative is that most people probably become dependant on the pills or gain the weight back. Without a foundation of understanding what a good diet actually consists success for weight loss or even general good health is next to none.
I struggle with allergies and skin conditions and have had to educate myself about proper diet. I can tell you some helpfull things right off the bat. Understanding your bodies PH whether or not it is balanced or acidic is good to know because over acidity causes illness, allergies, and even weight gain. Actually weight gain is one way that the body stores toxins that it can't get rid of. Foods that tend to make the body too acidic and toxic when consumed too regularlily are: Coffee/Soda(really bad), Meat(really bad), and Dairy.
I myself have drastically reduced my meat intake and completely cut out dairy except for special occassions and my allergies have completely eliminated. My girlfriend has done the same for a week now and has jump started her diet back into action losing 3 pounds in a week.
Really it comes down to what you eat and understanding what food actually does what to you. Dairy is sinfully delicious but is horrible for you and really is overhyped as having any real significant nutrional value. Vitamin D and Calcium can be found in grains and veggies. In addition to quitting any obvious junk food if you could bring yourself to quit Dairy and reduce your meat intake some I gaurantee it will jumpstart your diet even it you don't workout.Health Question & Answer

You shouldnt use slimming pills. They dont work.
There are other products, whhich are called fat burners. What they do is, they dont make you lose weight, but, make you feel "full" so you eat less.
The importnat thing to note is, the fat burning pills, only work when used with exercise programme.

Slimming pills on the other hand, use clever psycology, to make you feel like your losing weight. They're not good for the body either.

Exercise regulalry, and eat well. Thats the secret.

Hope that helps. Health Question & Answer

I think one needs to check exactly what is in the pill. I stay away from drugs and pills as much as I can. I always go for natural products. My biggest lesson I learned was to operate with the body and not to deceive it. If we do this it makes life sooooooooo much easier.
There is a way to slim down naturally. It is a nutrional product. It is very strong in Germany and will soon be launched here in the UK. Very healthy and I tested it. Without starving my cravings went less from day to day and the inches around my belly went down constantly and regularly. Health Question & Answer

Oh god, honey- DON'TT WASTE YOUR CASH! Seriously- in the past few years, i've bought every pill they've cme out with-Trim Spaa, Metabolife, Zantrax, Hydroxycut; Propolene- remember that ridiculous commerical that said "This pill is only for people who need to lose a large amount of weight- that's why it's so expensive".? Yeah- a $150.00 too expensive- but I even fell for that one. Plus countless other ones I'd get emails about, where I only had to pay a fewbuckss shipping for the trial. I kept thinking, well, it's only a few bucks here- what do i have to lose.? In most cases, just a few bucks- but take into consideration every time you do that, you have to give up your cc info- and you're then registered for theirauto shipp program- if you forget to cancel before the trial time is up, you get billed for the next shipment.
It's not that I was a complete moron and thought taking a pill would just melt the fat off- I knew that's not likely. but I had some extra baby weight- I', only 5' tall, and I never weighed more than 95lbs in my life till I had my son- I was so unhappy, I didn't feel right in my own body. I thought that if I dieted andexercisedd, and took these pills, they'd help me lose extra weight. None of them really did though. THey all claim that if you diet and do some exercise, you'll lose more with their pills- but read the fine print, and you'll learn in clinical trials, the average additional loss compared to someone with the same regimine without the pills- was usually between 3 and 6 pounds total. Now, i don't know about you- but if you can lose weight with diet and excersice, i'd say you're better off just giving it an extra month to lose those 3-6 lbs more; b/c it's hardly worth paying sixty bucks amonth extra for several months for.
When you first start the pills, you'll get some energy boosts- which in turn supress your appetitie a little- but for me, in the end, all they really did was make me feel jittery and too sick to eat- I was still hungry though, and I usually ended up over eating, because I thought putting something in my stomach to combat the jitteryness would help. Some of them have diuretics, so you lose water weight because you're getting rid of it that way- but that only works for so long.
I recently started trying to find alternative ones, that didn't cause that energy boost- there aren't many, and the ones I have found were all bunk too. I jumped on the hoodia train a few months back, and for a few days I thought wow, I'm really not hungry! But then I got hungry, and really, I think it waqs just a psychosymatic response- I thought they worked, so I convinced myself i wasn't hungry.
The bottom line is this- there's no miracle pill. I knew that, but I still was so desperate for a change, i let my good sense go out the door and wasted a lot of time and money. The only way to lose weight is with diet changes and exercise- and then it's a slow evelotion- not a revolution that happens overnight.
There's also a million diets out there- Atkins works for a lot of people, but I also know a lot of people who can tell you it's a really unhealthy way of dieting. You really have to just committ to making a change in your portion size, and you have to get active.
Aerobic activity is the best thing for losing weight- read up on the effects of anaerobic and aerobic excersise, and how to combine the two for maximum fat burning. It's also got a lot to do with your specific bbody type- if you're short like me, you may want to veer away from too much muscle-building, if you're taller, or more athletically built though, you may want to include that more in your regime.
There's lots of free sites online that can help you setermine a plan best for your specific body. Don't pay for one- go to the library, look on line and print stuff up- I became an expert on Atkins (well, maybe not, but you know what i mean) by checking out the books, reading them, outlining them and taking notes. I never paid one penny for anything other than the food I bought.
Lastly- there is the one remedy you've probably heard of- Ali- it was a prescription med a couple years back, that they've now begun to sell over the counter. My physician prescribed it back then, and said it was the only pill he stood behind- but it only works if you're making a serious effort in diet and exersis as well. It's no miracle pill; and I decided not to take it because 1) it has some bad side effects, and 2) myu insurance didn't cover it, and even now, over the counter, it's pricey. The way it works is by blocking 30% more of the fat in foods your body would normally absorb. It will help speed along weight loss- but only if you're already doing the other stuff and losing some. You cannot- and I can't stress this enough- eat any kind of high fat foods, or you will have some seriously unpleasant side effects. Some people say so long as you don't consume high fat meals, those side effects are rare; but I have notHealth Question & Answer

They just don't work. They are never long term effective. To be honest, they are a complete waste of money. At the end of it, the only thing lighter is your purse.
