Am I doing too much cardio in order to lose weight?!


Question: Am I doing too much cardio in order to lose weight.?
I lift weights for 40 minutes 4 days a week, and then do cardio for 45minutes 6 days a week. My cardio is a mix of running/jogging and somedays ill walk on an incline for 45 minutes. I eat 1800-2200 cal/day. Am 6"1 190lbs i guess about 12%bodyfat. Am i doing too much cardio.?Health Question & Answer

You have a pretty good balance of cardio and strength training but my only question is why you are trying to lose weight.? You already have a fairly low body fat percentage.

I'm assuming that you are a male because of your height, and I'm assuming that you are losing weight for appearance reasons. If that is true, I would cute back on the cardio and work more on strength training. Muscle tissue weighs more then adipose (fat) tissue but clearly improves your appearance. You should also increase your calories to increase your muscle mass because, if you are a guy, 1800-2200 calories is typically not enough, especially for someone as active as you.Health Question & Answer

you can never do too much cardio, its the cardio, not the weights that will help you lose weight. Plus tis the cardio that wil make you all round a lot healthier, the weights will only either cause you to put on bulk or tone current muscles (depending on your weight/rep ratio)Health Question & Answer
