Im 16 and i want to know if lifting weights will stunt my growth?!
Question: Im 16 and i want to know if lifting weights will stunt my growth.?
ok.im a girl and im 16 but i berly started going to the gym agein and i started lifting heavier weights.before i used to lift 10 pound weights and do more reps. but now i do more weight and less reps.honestly i admire any buff physique && im trying to get like that......it may sound weird but i like the rush and i like doing though it ,maybe kind of hard on my body, right now i lift 70-80lbs minimum.....anyway my mother sayd that if i keep doing that i will stop growing im 16,5'4,and weight 135,im actually kinda buff for a girl like me oh and my mother also sayd that i will become musclebound in a nasty way.....i want to know if these two are true or is she trying to scare me.....
any tips and advice would be very much appreciated :)Health Question & Answer

Good for you for not being afraid of weights.
First off, you probably already know this, but you won't become musclebound in a "nasty way". As a girl, you just don't produce enough testosterone to do that - you would have to inject.
also you're not just going to wake up one morning and just be huge. "Oh my god I didn't want this!" No chance.
Second, weights won't stunt your growth. Look at Football, Hockey, or Basketball players - they all lifted when they were teens and they're all over 6 feet. Of course I don't know your genetic background so at 5'4", you may be close to the height your going to reach anyway.
