It is suggested that the average person needs about 0.8 grams of protein per every kilogram he/she weighs. 157lbs is equal to about 71 kilograms.
So you multiply you weight in kilograms by 0.8
71kg X 0.8 = about 57 grams of protein per day.
But since you are trying to gain muscle, i would eat a little more than that. But you want to make sure that you are eating good sources of lean protein. Here are some good sources that can help you fullfill your daily protein needs:
-lean chicken breast
-fish
-beans (chick peas, kidney, navy, etc)
-canned tuna fish
-eggs
