Question: How long is a good target for my diet.?
Im 5'7 and weigh 12st i want to get down to 10st, im planning on cutting down my portions and exercising how long do you think it would take me.?Health Question & Answer

When dieting, you should count on losing 4-8 pounds per month so it should take you 4-7 months to lose 2 stone.

One diet you might like to check out is the South Beach diet, you can eat lots of protein on it and restrict carbs and fruits etc. You should check it out. The most important thing is to eat a lot of vegetables, control your portions (one portion of meat would fit in the palm of your hand), drink lots of water and get at least 30 minutes of exercise 5 times a week. Current research shows that you should get up to 60 minutes of exercise 4-5 times a week. If you aren't used to exercising though, start small and work your way up. You can start with 10 minutes of walking and keep adding time every week or you can exercise for 10 minutes, 3 times a day, whatever works for you and suits your schedule.Health Question & Answer

I totally agree with the previous answer. I am a qualified Weight Consultant and it is true to say that what the scales say is not a good way to measure your progress.

1. Through exercise and healthy eating it is 100% possible to totally change the shape of your body for it to remain the same weight or even increase.

2. Weight can fluctuate so much throughout the day and month (if female). Heat, exercise, food and drink, hormones and a million and one over things all effect the figure the scales will give you.

3. Scales can become additing and being a slave to the scales is not good, if the scales do not say what you hope one morning it can be detrimentle to your health plan.

4. Try to notice the fit of your clothes more instead and in general the feeling of being more healthy.

5. As said before eat a varied diet, wholegrains, lean protein and plenty of fruit and vegetables and a varied exercise plan will have you there in no time.
