What are good ways to strengthen my lungs?!

Question: What are good ways to strengthen my lungs.?
Answers:
Mindful breathing, a yoga based technique is good; most people do not breathe to their full lung capacity, if you think about breathing and try to fill your lungs you will see what I mean lol..if you practice mindful breathing for 10-15mins a day, it will increase your automatic lung fill over time.

To begin, take a deep breath, then try to fill it a little more. Most people find they can squeeze another 2-3 breaths if they are thinking about it. Then release slowly. This naturally trains your lungs to be used to a better % capacity.

Another way is to exert your lungs, as other have mentioned, for eg by strenuous exercise or holding your breath, but mindful breathing is a lot less painful/stressful!Health Question & Answer

I have asthma and I swim 3 times a week, I find that the first 5 minutes are hard on my lungs as I get a tight chest but then it goes and I can breathe so easily and it lasts throughout the day and hardly need my inhaler at all. I find that when I use the gym I get out of breath and am using my inhaler loads so I only swim now becuase it not only burns lots of calories it tones the whole of my body AND helps my asthma. I LOVE swimming Health Question & Answer
