For building muscle with minimal fat or carbohydrate intake you will do well to beat a protein powder shake. There are lots on the market, myprotein.co.uk is probably the most popular for value.

If you don't want to take protein shakes, tinned tuna (without mayo) packs a high protein punch.

Try cottage cheese before bed. It contains casein protein which is the protein equivalent of low GI - releasing protein slowly into your muscles overnight.

Nuts and seeds in small portions (they are high in good fats, but be sure not to eat too much of these) will reinforce all of the above.Health Question & Answer

Fat is not bad for you if its good fats and in moderation. After your workout you should have a protein shake. I've never had one that doesn't taste like crap so I don't go fancy, I put my scoop in and put just enough water to make it liquid enough to drink and down it in one gulp and then a cup of chocolate milk, perfect after training food. Chocolate milk is full of protein and gives an insulin spike which is beneficial after training to shoot all the nutrients to the muscles. (This is how my bf bodybuilds too)

Then an hour later have a regular mealHealth Question & Answer

If you are looking for optimal recovery and maybe to build some muscle, then you want a fast digesting protein and carbs in a ratio of about 1:2. Think about 20 g of protein (at least 10g of whey) and 40g of carbs (not fuctose, glucose / dextrose are best here). This is one of the few times when an insulin spike is desirable.Health Question & Answer

Milk, 1/2 a chicken breast, lunchmeat, any kind of meats, but you want to also add carbs to that that are fast digesting too, when I workout I eat sugary cereal with alot of milk, the sugar will help with an insulin spike and the milk will provide whey's and casein's.Health Question & Answer

Chicken breast, either grilled or baked! I bought 5 large breasts (boneless skinless) for about $6 and you can cut it up in small chuncks and cook them in a ziplock steamer bagHealth Question & Answer
