Am I eating to much food?!


Question: Am I eating to much food.?
I'm a 12yr old OVERWEIGHT female, and I really would like to lose some pounds. I can't go a week without having some chocolate or cake. And I was wondering if my diet is to much for me.

Break-fast
2 slices of toast with light flora butter.
or
cereal with semi-skimmed milk
or
egg sandwich
or
3 fish fingers sandwich

Lunch
ham sandwich
or
cheese sandwich
with either mayonnaise or smooth pickle

with
a small Chocolate bar(about the size of my index finger)
and
water
and sometimes
some grapes or pineapples or even strawberries

Dinner

Varies(but normally healthy,with lots of vegetables)
with
a glass or two of diluted juice

Is that to much food for me in one day.?

I was talking to my dad and girlfriend about this,
it is true you are what you eat,
but your body adjusts to what you take in
so i think the average amount of calories a day for an average person is 2,000 so the body will adjust itself to burn that much in one day.
So a little bit of exercise helps much more than eating less,
eating less will actually screw up your system, it will do all sorts of stuff,
like gain weight quicker,
stick to your normal meal, heck your only 12 years old

But add in some extra exercise, some press-ups at home, sit-ups
jogging on the spot even walking, so try some exercise

no I don't think so, but a lot of people are overweight at your age and if you carry on eating as healthily as you do you will eventually loose weight so don't worry too much about it at the moment.

No, i don't think that is too much to eat in one day at all! im slim and i think i eat more than you! I think you just have unlucky genetics which makes you put on weight easier or maybe you don't do much exercise... but anyways good luck in loosing weight if that's what you want to do, i don't think u shud change you diet i just think maybe you should exercise more than you do at the moment.

NO...u need to eat more for breakfast since it is the mot important meal of teh day.. and if u dont eat brekafast u will be very overwieght and FAT!!!And DONT EAT FISH FINGERS FOR BREAKFAST!!!!OR EVER,.....TALK ABOUT FRIED,FROZEN, AND PROCESSED.....Leave out the mayonaise at lunch...and eat more fruit with your lunch and breakfast....and switch the ham sandwich with a turkey sandwich......u should eat lots of vergetables and fruit and grain and turkey/fish for dinner!!and make sure the juice is reduced sugar(Orchid Frams Healthy balance)

You are not eating the right foods, way to much processed foods I beleive. If you want to loose weight eat the leaner types of meat, stay away from the carbs and the sugary drinks and snack. You seem to be eating fine, but watch how big each portion is. Drink water through the day (a lot!) to help pump things out of your system.

Firstly, you may not actually be overweight, you may just have a warped body image. Check your BMI on this site:

Secondly, your diet seems fine but if you wish to improve it, swap the chocolate with fruit or low sugar cereal bars, also try to stick to having only one fishfinger/egg sandwich a week as they are high calorie and skip on the mayo in your sandwiches.

However, i wouldn't worry too much, my sister is only a year older then you and was a bit chubby but not overweight but shes in the middle of a growth spurt and the weight is spreading out so this may be the case for you.Health Question & Answer

I was skinny tell i was about 14 and a half then i became overweight so i can relate. First things first imma tell you the same thing my nutritionist told me when i was 14. its not what you eat but how much of it you eat. At your age you need at least 1800 calories a day. Another thing is stay away from any soda/pop that's not good for you and don't drink more then 8 Oz's of juice a day considering it contains a lot of sugar. Talk to you doctor and get in to see a nutritionist and start an exercising regiment. MAKE SURE that you talk to your doctor about this first to make sure that the regiment is good for your mind and body. One other thing is DON"T give up. there is gonna be days that you want to just give up and eat or drink what you want to but keep it up and you will get the reward in the long run.
