How can I get toned without looking too hard & athletic?!

Question: How can I get toned without looking too hard & athletic.?
I'm a chick who has recently been eating better and working out 4 to 6 times a week. See, I want to get a nice flat stomach, along with lean arms and legs but I'm worried about ending up looking too athletic. I want to keep a nice feminine slim but soft look going on. How can I do this.?

And another question I have: Will the rowing machine at the gym end up making my shoulders look wider.? My back is already a little bit wider than that of most girls so the last thing I want to do is make it broader.

By the way, I am not overweight. I am within the healthy BMI range, but there is room for improvement.Health Question & Answer

Depends what kind of exercise you are doing the most.

If you dont want to get bigger, then avoid heavy weights.

If you just want to be toned and slim then any cardio workout is good... as it will burn fat and keep you toned, but you wont develop big muscles.

For a flat stomach, running is actually the best thing you can do as it tones your abs up due to developing your balance and posture. Sometimes doing things like stomach crunches can have the opposite effect and make your stomach stick out more!
Running will tone you up and keep you slim with a nice flat stomach without building you up to big muscles.

Hope this helps. xxHealth Question & Answer

Run to control your weight and leg growth, and if you want to lift weights then your arms will tone up nicely. You'll want to do lighter weights with more reps.
For the abs, simply limit your calories/fat, continue running, and do some situps. A balance would give great abs with a mixture of muscle and lean-ness. More sit-ups = more muscular; eating better with less situps = leaner, which is what you want.Health Question & Answer

you sound like your doing pretty good.
its good that you arent working out every day, definately dont do that.
do some good ab workouts mostly and only a little bit of arms and legs about once or twice a week. when you see your muscles start to get big, keep eating healthy but dont work them as muchHealth Question & Answer

ok: run 3 miles every day and dont even do weights (but you can to speed it up...), and get some pushups in. All the resulting muscle will be lean and not bulky at all.

if u want to do wieghts do a ton of reps with a 5pounder or 10pounder. any heavier and u get manarms.Health Question & Answer

Swimming is a good option. I swim a few times a week and it keeps me toned and slim.Health Question & Answer
