I just need some help ! Easy 10 points !?!

Question: I just need some help ! Easy 10 points !.?
Hi,

Well, I am a 13yr old girl and i was wondering if you could tell me if i am at a normal weight or if i need to loose a few pounds. I am very tall, 5'7 to be exact.

I also stand out of the crowd because i am so tall. I weight about 135 pounds and go to the gym everyday and loose about 800 calories while i am there.

the reason i am asking this question is because when i was a child, i was overly obese and used to be made fun of. I am finally thin and love it. I do not want to go back to my old self.

I am just thinking about what i will eat once i am on my own and will go to college. Is there any way you can tell me if i should start learing to cook right now .?

So, my question is the following :

Do you think i am at a normal weight.?

How can i know the % of fat in my body.?

If i would ever want to loose a little more weight, what do you think my goal should be.?

THNKS FOR HELPING ME !

1: "Do you think i am at a normal weight.?"

Yep. I calculated your BMI (body mass index) using a calculator I've linked to below. You're BMI, which is basically a scientific number arrived at though a mathematical formula, says that you're "a healthy weight" given your age and height. BMI is a much better indicator of whether or not you're at an acceptable weight than just going by how much you weigh. It's what doctors and dietitians go by.

2: "How can i know the % of fat in my body.?"

There's various calculators on the net that you can use that will give you an estimate but to actually find out you'd have to have a dietitian calculate it. There's a couple of ways they do this. One is by measuring an actual fold of skin on your body with calipers and then taking that measurement and running it through some calculations. Another is by seeing how much water you displace when you're put into a tank of water. The idea is that fat is less dense than muscle and bone so they just find out how much you weight when you float compared to what you weigh outside the tank and, once again, use a mathematical formula to figure out your body fat percentage. There's also a couple of other ways but it's normally used only for athletes.

3: "If i would ever want to loose a little more weight, what do you think my goal should be.?"

Since you're at a healthy weight now I wouldn't suggest losing more than 5 if you absolutely *must* lose weight. You said you're finally thin and love it so my suggestion would be to simply work on toning your muscles rather than losing actual body fat.

Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Yes you are normal weight.
You will need calipers to test your Body Fat Percentage. Or try this site: http://zone.cust.he.net/prothd2.html

I don't think you should loose any weight. I weigh what you weigh and I am 5'5''. My BMI is normal.

Here's a site for BMI. It will help you determine healthy weights for your height. http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/Health Question & Answer

Im 15 and i weight the exact same amount as you and im 5'6 3/4" I work out 7 days a week for 2 hours during the week and about 6 hours or more on the weekend. What im trying to say is that you are fine and that you can weigh A lott but still be healthy. if you are eatingremotelyy well and exercising you should be fine. If you are truly worried about it though talk to your doctor.Don't compute your BMI at home (even though you would be between 21 and 22) because thatdoesn'tt account for muscle.Health Question & Answer

Your weight is good for your height, thats good that you work out. It's ok to indulge every once in a while in sweets and McDonald's etc..but i would just make sure you get protein, fiber, and lots of fruit and veggies while your at college. It's also a good idea to record everything you eat so you can see where, how, and what your getting your calories from and to see how much your eating. I bring fruit, spinach for salad with ride wine mist salad dressing, hard boiled egg, and bell peppers, raw broccoli and stuff like that to work and in my house to munch on instead of cookies etc.. sometimes i have to indulge though. here's a website that you can see how much calories you need to maintain your weight without going over or under. also when you workout and gain muscle your weight will go up because muscle weighs more than fat does so don't be alarmed if you start gaining weight and you haven't changed nothing, the more muscle you have the faster your resting metabolism is.http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie...Health Question & Answer
