Why are Americans on average so obese?!

Question: Why are Americans on average so obese.?
Answers:
lazy and uneducated imoHealth Question & Answer

Westerners and Americans in particular are treated to propaganda in the media day and night about delicious, but unhealthy foods. Even PBS gets into the act with their unhealthy foods on their cooking shows.

The American diet is HIGH fat, HIGH sodium, HIGH refined carbs that are full of empty calories. Populations that live on a low-fat vegetarian diet without excess animal and plant fats (oils) have rare instances of:

Obesity
High Blood Pressure
Heart Disease
Cancers
Diabetes

On the other hand, these are extremely common diseases for Americans. It's the high fat content food that's the real killer. Most food in our stores are unhealthy. Most food advertised on TV are unhealthy. Most recipes shown on American TV, cookbooks, and even cooking schools are unhealthy.

Thin people in America are typically those who have good genes or are well-disciplined. Not everyone is so fortunate. We need to re-educate our institutions:

Schools
Physicians
Insurance Companies

...that the solution to these diseases is not surgery and drugs.Health Question & Answer

Corn subsidies. Lots of cheap high fructose corn syrup for soft drinks and other things.

There's also the way be build our "communities". You don't see a lot of really fat people in the cities, you see them in the suburbs. People in the cities tend to walk a lot more. People in the suburbs are more car dependent.

Then there is the related problem of commuting to and from the suburbs. In a two worker household, it doesn't leave a lot of time for someone to make nutritious, healthy meals,

Finally there is the insane food pyramid. It puts carbohydrates like grains and potatoes at the base of the pyramid. Those foods spike insulin and encourage the body to store fat. Ironically, consuming animal fat is actually healthier.Health Question & Answer

Because we consume more calories than we expend in a day's time with no time or energy to do anything about it.
