Weight cutting for wrestling?!

Question: Weight cutting for wrestling.?
First I need to give some background information. I am 5 foot 11 and 137 pounds in the off season. Last year i was 5' 8" 112. Anyway we have been through a week of pratice and i now weigh 130 however i seem to have hit a lull regarding losing weight. It isnt coming off nearly as easily anymore. We are weight certing on friday. I drink about 35 ounces of water a day and yet i still feel completely dehydrated. First i want to know how can i lose more weight while drinking the same or more water.
Secondly i would like to know wen should u start to lose more water weight. I know once i make weight i will make it then go back up to 130 so wen should i begin the cut down to 125 again.?
Any ideas on weight cuting will be appreciated.Health Question & Answer

I wrestled all throughout high school and middle school and also dealt with similar issues in trying to make weight. As far as water goes, the more you drink, the better off you will be (so long as it isn't in the two days leading up to a weigh in). When you drink water it allows you to feel full, so you won't feel the need to eat as much. Your body can only hold so much water, after a certain point, you will just have to go to the bathroom a lot (obviously, don't over do it). Just keep in mind, water is your friend, and your body is better at burning fat and carrying it out of your system when you are properly hydrated. It also helps to flush out the system.

Now, everything written above should be used for off-season training, and the days after you weigh in. It is perfectly fine to be 5 pounds over weight the day before weigh in, because your body holds between 5 and 10 pounds of water that can be easily lost within a 24 hour period.

Make sure to be safe about everything, but what I used to do was not drink any water after a practice the day before weigh-ins. I would have one 8 oz. glass before bed and then the bare minimum throughout the day of a weigh in. also make sure to keep your food consumption low in the day before, and day of a weigh in. If you show up to practice and still weigh a few pounds over, you will be able to sweat the extra pounds out.

You will be surprised how quickly you can cut a few pounds by simply putting on some sweats and running, wrestling, doing push-ups, etc.

When I was wrestling (5'11'', 152 lbs.) I was able to cut up to 5 lbs in a single practice. I have also cut 10 lbs. from the day before a weigh in to the end of practice on weigh in day. It really just depends on how hard you are willing to push yourself.Health Question & Answer
