I keep trying to do pullups and chinups but my progress is slow. How long does it take to see progress?!

Question: I keep trying to do pullups and chinups but my progress is slow. How long does it take to see progress.?
I used to be able to do about four sets of 8 chinups and pullups. Then I took about 2 years of time off. Now I have put on thirty pounds of weight and I am weighing in at about 180. I can do about 2 pullups and chinups per set. I just kind of hang there as long as I can stand it on my last one so I can build some kind of strength in those muscles. I also have been doing pushups and curls with weights and reverse curls with weights and leg lifts for the past three months.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
No offense but its the extra weight you have gained thats making it hard to do pullups. I know because i had the same problem, but once i started running and doing lots of abs they got easier and easier. also, what was effective for me was doing pyramid pullups which go like this.
