chin ups work your biceps more, but are also good for back. If you want do develop your lats you need to do do pull ups with wide and close grips.
Wide grip pull ups work your back muscles closer to your spine, close grip pull ups will give you more wide back.
So for best effect, do wide, middle and close-grip pull ups,
and then add close grip chin-ups at the end.
