How do I get motivated to lose weight?!


Question: How do I get motivated to lose weight.?
I want to lose 15 pounds.
But I can't seem to do it. I know how to. I know I want to. I just cant seem to get motivated to do it. I can be holding a can of soda or a bowl of ice cream in my hands and say to myself "I am not hungry, why do I want this. I will never lose weight doing this"
Why cant I just say that I am going to do it and then do it.?

drink a glass of water before each snack you *think* you want.
studies have been done that people confuse thirst for hunger very often.
Plus, drinking more water helps with your complexion.

Here's something to think about: 'Self-discipline is something to feel good about' . If you set your mind to do something and you succeed, you will feel good about yourself. Self-discipline is a great motivator. What's more motivating is when you decide to do it yourself. It's your decision, so you want to make it work.

If you want to lose weight permanently, you need to change. You do this by learning new habits (the items below may help you). Take a decision to do something...then DO IT! You can motivate yourself - nobody can do this for you.

-Look in the mirror every day/morning and night to see what you need to lose
-Focus on a reason why you need to lose weight.? for bikini season.? put on a bikini and tell yourself what you're going to lose
-I write on little sticky notes and put them on my mirror.. i know it sounds dumb but it helps me
-Or i bought a pair of pants a size too small and hung them in clear sight of where i look/get ready every day and it pushes me to go to the gym
-I got a gym membership, so i figured it would be 1-2$ daily and wouldn't want to waste that

I've lost 40 pounds and I'm keeping it all off. I changed my lifestyle drastically and persisted in new behaviors. Sometimes an extreme change is easier than a modest one. If its a temporary diet, you will lose weight and then put it right back on when you quit.

The diet I'm on will reduce my chance of four significant diseases, however, my motivation has to do with how I feel. I feel like a million dollars every day and have never been as mentally alert. I'm consciouis of how I feel and attribute it to my excellent lifestyle choice in diet and exercise.

don't buy ice cream in the 1st place.

count the calories you are eating.

I know how you feel. Usually I get motivated on accident... like, one day I'll have eaten pretty lightly because I was busy or there wasn't much food around that I wanted... So then the next day I felt lighter and THAT's when I feel most motivated. I know it's hard when you've been eating crap consistently, because then your body is used to it and it craves it. But once you start the healthy stuff then you feel better and crave THAT stuff!

buy an AMAZING pair of pants or top that would fit you if you lost 15 pounds and use it to motivate yourself. that way when you want to eat smething fattening, you can ask yourself "would i rather eat this in a minute, or be able to fit into my new ___.?"Health Question & Answer
