Will this exercise routine work?!

Question: Will this exercise routine work.?
I just started my own exercise routine 2 days ago, I am doing 30 sqauts, 50 jumping jacks, and 10 push ups to start with, and my freggin legs are sore! So I know it's doing something, but, how long with this routine do you think it will take me to lose weight and tone.?.?
I am trying to lose 10-15 lbs of leftover baby weight.
Would walking/jogging be a good idea to start in addition.?Health Question & Answer

That's fine as long as you have rest days. The effort demands it and you burn fat when you rest. Sleep as well as you can. 8-9 hours per night if possible. The other important thing is intensity. Be exhausted from your workouts.

But it won't count for a whole lot in the fat-burning department unless you have your nutrition dialled in. I recommend the Zone "Diet" (hardly a "diet" as most people understand the term). The people of Crossfit (http://www.crossfit.com) use it and they have thousands of athletes getting great results.

This is the basic outline: http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf/cfj... but you should probably buy Mastering the Zone.

Edit: You would do well to not listen to Farg. Running 30 minutes a day just won't get it done anything like as quickly. You just can't get the intensity doing that. It is well know that short duration high intensity work outs are just WAY more effective. For example: http://www.exrx.net/FatLoss/HIITvsET.htm...

Honestly, you have designed perfectly good metabolic conditioning workouts. If you do them three or four days a week and eat properly you will lose the weight. If you don't I will eat my own $hit. How's that.?

Your legs are sore, which as you say, means that it is working. You've caused sufficient stress to the body that it needs to adapt to change. In one to three weeks time they will stop being really sore because your body will have made those changes - to put it simply.

Just one word of advice. Try to see this as a new lifestyle not a temporary measure. You will be grateful for it.Health Question & Answer

If you want to lose weight, don't take that routine. Instead, jog/run or walk for starters. Steadily increase your output by a bit more each week. To lose weight, you need cardio and not toning exercises (although jumping jacks help). You could also jump rope if you don't enjoy running as much. If you jog/run 30 minutes a day and go on about a 1400-calorie diet, you CAN lose UP TO 4-5 pounds a week.

Well good luck!
