Do you think wanting to be fit is just as bad a wanting to loose weight?!

Question: Do you think wanting to be fit is just as bad a wanting to loose weight.?
On Thursday I went to a drop in at my local gymnastic gym. I realised that I had gotton out of shape since the last time I had been there and I couldn't do half the stuff I used to. I'm in grade 8 so when I told my mom that I want to get back into shape she said that I was being self concious and that I shouldn't think i'm fat (which I'm not) So my question is is wanting to be fit just as bad as wanting to loose weight I don't think so I just want some muscle again.Health Question & Answer

Not at all! If you feel that you cannot do the things you used to be able to because of your shape, then that's a perfect reason to get fit. Totally acceptable. A lot of people automatically assume that wanting to be fit and wanting to loose weight are the same thing, they're not. also, both are not bad things. Wanting to be fit is more on the health side, like you're doing it for your health or to be more in shape. Loosing weight is very similar, but it is more for your image. Talk to your mom and convince her that you don't think you're fat, that you're just trying to be healthy. Kudos for you!Health Question & Answer

Wanting to be fit and wanting to loose weight is not bad. It's only bad when you over do it.

If you want to get fit then fine go for it, but don't feel like you need to be more and more and more fit, that is where the problem comes in.

Take it easy and be carefull not to overdo it.Health Question & Answer

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be fit. I can tell you that you'll be much happier in life if you do stay fit. And if you happen to get out of shape and then want to lose a little weight, then I don't see how there's anything wrong with that either.

Just don't push yourself too hard though.Health Question & Answer
