i went to see and ent today about my bad breath and after some minute of examination he said the cause is my tonsils and the only cure was to have them removed. i heard about the pain and all those things. how can i deal with the pain.?Health Question & Answer

for the first day or so you'll want to be on a liquid diet so you don't scratch your throat with anything. hard food will be uncomfortable for about 2 or three days. make sure to take the pain killers every four hours.. don't skip a dose just cause you feel a bit better... and if there is a time where it is still causing pain then eat ice cream or sherbet.. the coolness really does help it feel better. make sure to gargle with salt water after so that you don't get infection and you should be good as new in no time.

Most people will tell you to eat ice cream after but I found it better to drink warm ( not hot ) broth. It was much more soothing.also ask the Dr. to do a PTT blood test now before the surgery.It will tell weather you are a clotter or bleeder or normal.Please do this ASAP. Just insist that he do this simple blood test for your peace of mind. Most Dr.s will wait until something happens in order to do this test. Me , I belive everyone having surgery should have this test first.Health Question & Answer
