Home treatment for an injured knee.?!
Question: Home treatment for an injured knee..?
My cousin fell over something and hit her knee in the parking lot. Her knee doesn't show any swelling. It's scraped a bit. She can't bear weight on it. Says putting ice on it makes it hurt really bad. Does anyone have any suggestions for treating this at home.? Health Question & Answer

Ice is more for swelling, actually heat will help loosen it up and make it feel a bit better. I would get a hand towel, run it under hot water (not scalding) and lay that across it. Aspirin will help with swelling and a good general pain reliever. Give it a little time, if she still has extreme pain or anything looks broken, take her to the doc. Heat works best for strain/sprain or general athletic type injury. I hope it helps!Health Question & Answer
Ice is the way to go. She just needs to suck it up for the first minute and get over it.Health Question & Answer
It is scraped and bruised. Tell her to keep it covered.Health Question & Answer
I think anytime you ice something it hurts. She could try soaking it in epsom salt. Fill a warm bath and pour epsom salt in it, you can buy it at Walmart. If she fell on something metal she should really go to the Dr. to get a tetanus shot.Health Question & Answer
