Wierd Sharp Bone on the side of my wrist.?!
Question: Wierd Sharp Bone on the side of my wrist..?
I can't feel it at all but its noticeable its not very sharp but its bulging out. It is not soft it feels like a real bone. It's only on my left wrist not my right. When i push on it, it feels honestly like a regular bone but its abnormal cause my right hand doesnt have it. I only noticed this 2 days ago i didnt have this before. I'm also a violinist in case that is the reason. Going to the doc tomorrow but jw what u guys think it is. Health Question & Answer

What you have sounds like a ganglion cyst. It feels like a bone but it isn't, it is actually caused by an accumulation of fluids in the joint and sometimes happens when you do certain things repeatedly (such as playing the violin). I had one on my right wrist for over 10 years and it used to bother me initially and I felt very self conscious. I spoke to my doc about it at the time (that's how I found out what it is) and I was told that the doctor could drain it using a needle and then inject an antibiotic to prevent infection but it could come back later, anyway I decided not to do it and learned to live with it. I found out from my uncle that he also had it at one point as well as my grandmother so it might be hereditary also. About 7 years ago it suddenly disappeared and there is no trace of it now. Hope this info is helpful to you. Good luck with it.Health Question & Answer
