Methadone question. If I took only 5mgs of Methadone yesterday, is it safe for me to take a Lorcet today?!

Question: Methadone question. If I took only 5mgs of Methadone yesterday, is it safe for me to take a Lorcet today.?
I have not been on Methadone at all. Yesterday was my first time taking 5mg of Methadone for pain. It did not help the pain at all. I have Lorcet (Hydrocodone) and I was wondering since it has been 24 hours since I took the small dose of Methadone, is it safe for me to take the Lorcet now.? I know Methadone stays in your body (in some people) up to 72 hours. But the amount I took was small and my first and only time taking it was yesterday. So could someone please let me know if it is safe to take Lorcet (Hydrocodone) 24 hours after Methadone.? I would appreciate the help. It is a weekend and docs around here are not open and no I do not have the money just to walk into the ER so I can ask this simple question. Thank you so much for any truthful and helpful advice.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You will have no problem taking Lorcet today. The Methadone is pretty much out of your system. Whenever you have a problem about what medicines to take and when it's never a problem to call your pharmacy and they will be happy to answer your question. Methadone Is not always that successful for people with pain. It just seems to be the latest fad for doctors to give. The older medicines work just fine.Health Question & Answer

Yes it is safe. Don't forget that pharmacist is a wonderful resource for this type of question as they are aware of other meds you are currently prescribed.

Good luck. And do report to the prescribing physician that methadone doesn't seem to be working very well for your pain. And do be aware of constipating qualities of opiate meds.Health Question & Answer

Call the nearest hospital, and ask to speak to a nurse. They will answer questions over the phone. Other than that, call a pharmacy (the ones in WalMart are open Saturdays) and ask a pharmacist.Health Question & Answer
