Question: I need advice from people who know about these situaton.....thank you very very much.?
I need some advice. Basically I left sixth form (A-levels) a week ago because i suffered from depression for the duration of 5 month from november and had to see a counsellor and phycatrist. I am starting at a new college with a new course equilavlent to 3 A-levels and is all coursework based in september in and in the mean time I will be working in property managment. The depression was really high as I cried every night and harmed myself. I need advice as I know I have made the right decision, but I am scared....because i really want this new college to work out and I want to hopefully go to university. Thank you to everyone who replies and I really appreciate it, no negative responses please.Thank thank thank you...Health Question & Answer

hi,
you've made a really brave decision to go back to college, well done - i know how hard it can be! the new college will give u as much support as they can if you let them know you've been having mental health problems-extra time for assignments, support from your tutor and college counsellor etc they're generally really good.i was at uni for two years with mental health problems and they were extremely supportive- i had to leave because of physical health problems which made my mental health worse. I am now going back to college in september to do an access course; i'm nervous too! my advice would be just to keep focused on your goal of uni, be honest if you are having problems when you go to college and take up any support they offer. Dont let yourself get overly stressed or overloaded as this may flare up your mental health problems again. also keep a good balance of a life outside college work. Even if it takes you a bit longer than other people to complete the course-you will get there. You sound like a strong, motivated person.
goodluck-i wish you wellxHealth Question & Answer

just be yourself and have a smile on your face, then people will be willing to help you out and keep you company, but for your own saftey stop harming your self my friend died by doing that and its not that fun...Health Question & Answer

you need a psychologist or psychiatrist.

perheps meds or talk therapy can make it less scary and more doable.
good luck, really.Health Question & Answer

hey, i had problems with my mental health during 6th form too. was told i was depressed placed on anti-depressants which i didnt take for long cos they sucked (turned out 2 years later it wasnt depression) . it does sound like you have made a sensible choice, i was never brave enough to leave, instead i battled on. i would just make sure you can get as much help as you can, use all the resources available to you. when you start your new college, do the same, i know my college was very supportive of me. colleges usually have lots of resources and support etc. so make full use of these and you will be ok, if i can get through college then so can you! i wish you luck.Health Question & Answer
