What happened to me while I was sleeping?!

Question: What happened to me while I was sleeping.?
Last night I was in bed trying to sleep and eventually I did, and I guess when I WAS asleep I was dreaming, or kind of half awake, half asleep dreaming, that I was walking and I suddenly tripped IN THE DREAM, and my body reacted just as if I would really be tripping in real life, my legs just shot up in the air and I woke up abruptly, is this natural.?
does the body kind of react on what the brain is dreaming, even though it's not really happening.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It is absolutely natural. The body doesn't detach from the brain just because we are asleep. Has happened to me as well (usually when I step off a curb and mis-step in my dream.) Wakes me up with a start and it's actually rather funny. It's not much different then people waking up laughing while having a dream about something funny, or people walking up in a cold sweat after a nightmare.
You're fine. Not to worry. Sleep well. :)Health Question & Answer

LifeHealth Question & Answer

Yeah jumping around in your sleep is normal. I remember when I was a teen I was dreaming about playing football. The QB gave me the ball and said go, so I went and I ran right out of bed and onto the floor. Another time I had a dream about kicking a ball and I kicked it and I kicked my wife in the butt.Health Question & Answer

Many tests/studies have proven that in alot of times your body does react like it does in the dreams...
I had a dream where i was fighting like 10 people, and all the sudden they threw me off a building, i woke up with a bruise on my head, on the floor... somehow i threw myself off the bed... its strange, but happens alot...Health Question & Answer

Personal Experience..Health Question & Answer

Yes, it is normal to occasionally react to your dreams. Once in a while, I may wake up by myself in a nightmare. Usually, I shake or jump a little.

It is normal to jolt like that when you are in between reality and drowsiness. I used to do it all the time. So, don't worry about it!Health Question & Answer

Yes, that's normal and happens to people when they are dreaming sometimes. If it is reoccurring on a nightly basis, you may want to talk to a sleep specialist about it.Health Question & Answer

I once had a dream where I walked into a wall at one point and I woke up and jolted so hard I knocked my glass of water all over my alarm clock.
So yes. It is quite normal. That is, if I am normal. Which I am not. So maybe it isn't normal. Who knows.?Health Question & Answer
