Is there a chemical in your brain that makes you depressed.? Are antidepressants supposed to stop that chemical.?Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Well there are different types of antidepressants. One of the more popular is Lexapro. It's a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. What that basically means is that it blocks the chemical serotoin from being absorbed so there is more of it available to pass to each nerve cell in the brain:) I know it sounds confusing but basically it helps you maintain more of the proper chemicals needed in your brain to feel better:)Health Question & Answer
